When we look at modern day politics in the US we sure see a lot
of blame-gaming. It's as if it's all about blaming the other side,
rather than focusing on the task at hand with superior leadership. Of
course, no one wants to take the fall for anything that goes wrong. It
hardly matters if it is at the Secret Service, GSA, or executive branch.
It seems everyone wants to throw someone under the bus, as if that bus
is going anywhere worthwhile anyway.
Yes, this happens in government, we all know that is true, but it happens in the military also, and has throughout the ages. Poorly fought battles are blamed on the commanders in the field, forget that they got bad intelligence, or suicidal orders from command and control. This brings me to the point that I'd like to make here today. You see, there was an interesting article in SpaceWar online recently titled; "Robots fighting wars could be blamed for mistakes on the battlefield," by Molly McElroy, Seattle WA (SPX) Apr 24, 2012.
Wow great more people, or should I say robots to blame - yes, that ought to make everyone happy, blame the robots, even if those future fighting bots will have more intelligence than the humans which command them? And may I ask what happens when it is a war fought entirely by robots? Artificial Intelligent Super Computers at command and control directing UAVs and Unmanned Ground, Sea, Underwater vehicles and robots? Will, it be their robots to blame for losing the war, or our robots for winning it?
Well, I bet the leaders or human commanders as always will take credit for the win, and blame any loss in any battle on the bots. For instance, if our robots win, the humans on the winning side will congratulate themselves for requisitioning the latest robotic systems, and laying out the basic objectives, or choosing the enemy. The losing side will say they had inferior robots and these mechanical nitwits are to blame. Bet me, that is what humans do, they blame others for their mistakes.
Boy, I'd hate to be a robot on the future, none of the glory and if you aren't destroyed in the battle, you'll be recycled for parts if you lose? Being a robot just has no advantages in the future, and you thought your life was tough human? Please consider all this and think on it, because this future reality is nearly upon us now.
